GOP might lose a few hardcore cultists, but they are suddenly much more palatable to moderate republicans and independants who can also have to excuse to say they were tricked or that they have redeemed themselves by flipping on this horrible, hidden dragon. Eveything they have done to enable him is forgotten. Democrats lode an enormous amount of leverage because almost all of their talking points have been focused on Trump more than the GOP as a whole
